Psychologist
B.A. (Psych), Grad Dip (Psych), M.Psych(Clin). MAPS.
Shona is a registered psychologist, a member of the Australian Psychological Society, and an associate member of the College of Clinical Psychologists. Shona has clinical experience in a range of diverse settings, including inpatient psychiatric units, adolescent mental health services, community counselling, and drug and alcohol forensic services. She currently works within private practice and public mental health, assisting adolescents and adults with various psychological issues. These include depression, anxiety disorders, self-esteem issues, anger-management, stress related problems and sleep disorders. Shona also works with clients with complex psychiatric presentations, including schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder and has worked extensively within drug and alcohol.
Shona uses a wide range of current evidence-based approaches to meet the individual needs of her clients and their presenting issues. These approaches include Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical-Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI) and Solution-focused therapies.
Shona is committed to providing a highly individualised and supportive psychological service of the highest professional standard. She has a Bachelor of Arts Degree (majoring in Psychology and Criminology) from Monash University, a Post-Graduate Degree in Psychology from Deakin University and a Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology from Deakin University.
